How to Use Them Safely
To avoid a compromised skin barrier and over-exfoliation, stagger their use rather than applying both at the exact same time:
Alternate Days (Skin Cycling): Use salicylic acid on one night, and your retinol on the following night.
Day & Night: Apply a salicylic acid cleanser in the morning (since it's rinse-off) and your retinol serum at night.
